About Us

The Area Learning Center is an optional educational program available to students who meet specific at-risk criteria. Evening classes, day classes, and summer school are provided to students to help them complete diploma-based requirements. Classes are smaller and individualized instruction is available. Students enrolling under the age of eighteen must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Area Learning Center provides a non-traditional education to students. Area Learning Center staff is committed to making an effort to connect with students to give them new and different educational opportunities.

Prairie Lakes Education Center provides the education program to Prairie Lakes Youth Programs through the Willmar Public Schools for residential on-site students. Since 1991, the program has served youth, ages 12-18 from all areas of Minnesota.  Our dedicated staff partner with students to develop individualized learning plans that support academic success, personal grown, and future readiness.  This Care and Treatment program works with over 200 students per year from approximately 80 school districts.

Lakeview School provides educational services for patients who are hospitalized at Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Services (CABHS).  The goal of Lakeview School is to provide students with a supportive environment to meet their academic needs and have a successful future.  To accomplish this, Lakeview staff provide daily individualized instruction in small groups.

Lake Park School provides the education program to Prairie Lakes Youth Programs for off-site students through the Willmar Public Schools.  Our dedicated staff partners with students to develop individualized learning plans that support academic success, personal grown and future readiness.   This Care and Treatment program works with over 200 students per year from approximately 80 school districts.

The Focus House is a secondary special education program for students with educational disabilities and transition needs who are between the ages of 18 to 22. The program focuses on helping students prepare for life after high school by developing skills in a post-secondary education and training, employment, and independent living. Our goal is to equip students with the experiences and tools needed to lead purposeful lives as individuals, family members, employees, and citizens.
